This week marks National Volunteer Week, and at Active Leaders of Love (ALL), we’re doing more than just saying "thanks." We’re celebrating the diverse voices, professional expertise, and lived experiences that turn our mission into a movement.

The national theme this year is Ignite Volunteerism. For us at ALL, that means moving beyond "transactional" tasks and building a sustainable, inclusive home for anyone who wants to create change - whether you’re looking to lend a hand for a few hours or lead a team bringing in years of expertise.

Jessica S. | Program Manager, Lightboard Project

Professional Background: Banking & Project Management

Jessica serves as a strategic anchor for the Lightboard Project, applying their background in banking to bring rigorous structure and alignment to our community initiatives. Their work ensures that ALL's complex, multi-year projects remain focused and effective.

One of the key reasons Jessica joined the project was that they wanted a space where they could not only contribute time but also professional skills within a purpose-driven and collaborative environment.

Massa H. | Executive Associate, Active Leaders of Love

Professional Background: Nonprofit Governance & Strategy

As part of our Executive Associates Pre-Board Program, Massa is bridging the gap between theory and governance. Over the past six months, they have supported board-level functions and recruitment strategy, earning them the Leadership Essentials Certificate while shaping our internal culture.

For Massa, leadership is something one grows into, and applying ethical leadership in real-world scenarios at ALL has been what they deem a "transformative experience."

Nikita | Research & Strategy Lead

Professional Background: Economic Development & Client Engagement

Nikita provides the data-driven foundation for our advocacy. From analyzing municipal case studies to drafting our Research Ethics Policy, they ensure our projects are grounded in evidence. Their current focus on community needs assessments is vital to making the Lightboard Project truly community-driven.

Nilkita says that the genuine intent to solve problems from the ground up really stood out to them about ALL. They get to apply their research skills toward something with real-world impact, which gives them a deep sense of purpose.
